Community Service and Charities

"Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community."---Anthony J. D'Angelo.

While the main goal for Parent Without Partners is to provide a comprehensive support system for the single parent. We also firmly believe in giving back to local communities. This sense of community and charity, not only helps those in need, but also benefits the parent and their family. PWP views community service as a "WIN-WIN" situation for not only our organization, but the communities, as well.

Some examples of members that have given their valuable time and resources:

ST BALDRICK'S FOUNDATION FOR CHILDRENS CANCER RESEARCH
Well, I was losing my hair anyways.... so on St. Patrick's Day I participated in a local St. Baldricks event to help fund children's cancer research. I shaved my head to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!

LOVE INC DONATION DRIVE
Love INC's network of volunteers from local churches and agencies together to help disadvantaged people in need. We make appropriate referrals to help meet needs, but more importantly, we do all we can to move people toward community. Many people in need do life essentially alone, without loving family and friends to speak into their lives. We try and help these clients rebuild their lives and create new relationships. To help Love INC, we are collection nessecities to help women fleeing abusive relationships, people just released from prison and previously homeless veterans who are starting their lives over with nothing. Please bring any of the following items dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, tables, chairs, beds, bedding, and personal care items.

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN
We have so many blessings here in the United States that sometimes we take the little things like having enough to eat for granted. Join us at Feed My Starving Children www.fmsc.org for a 2 hour shift to pack food for the hungry kids around the world. Children ages 5 and up (with the help of an adult) can help and learn what it means to give back to others through community service.

IN CHEFS HANDS - FOOD THERAPY FOR THE SOUL
Our mission is to provie a culinary education experience with renowned professional chefs for individuals with special needs who have a passion for food and cooking.

RALLY FOR AUTISM
One of our new members is walking in honor of her youngest son in this 5th Annual Rally. Kids are welcome to join in this event, but no strollers are allowed during the run, only during the walk. 1 in 150 children have some form of Autism and the number is rising at a startling rate of 10-17%/year.

CARE BREAST CANCER WALK
Sun. October 24 Raffel Road North of Hwy 120 in Woodstock
Our own Becky G is taking part in this walk to raise
Money for the McHenry County Breast Cancer Task Force.
Proceeds from the race will go the Family Health Partnership
Clinic’s Breast Fund to help provide exams, mammograms,
Education and outreach to the community. Last year the
Event raised over $130,000.

Other activities have included cleaning roadsides and parks to collecting food for the Northern IL food bank. Community services knows no bounds. And we are love to acknowledge our member's contributions. Feel free to contact us with a cause.
